I guess it comes from my being spoiled in some international dives, but it was really rough having such large dive groups. I have really superb air consumption and can last much longer than most divers. However masters won't believe me until at least a dive or so. To gauge the group, you honestly really waste a dive going only in small circles close to the boat instead of venturing out more to get to explore the area. A dive master, Gil, went incredibly slow and was regularly getting upset for anyone venturing more than 10ft or so from him.
rented a GoPro at the shop for a snorkel on Molikini. About 15 mins into our snorkel it says card full. Thought maybe someone had left stuff on the card and I could just delete. No. It was a 4MB card. In 2017. Completely ridiculous! 4MB in a video camera! I complained when we got back and the guy told me that it was a "third party" and they couldn't do anything about it. Sorry Maui Dive Shop but i rented it from you, paid you in your shop. I don't give a F*#! who the third party you use is. Don't go here. Rip off and terrible customer service.
A great day with a very poor first impression. Brandon behind the counter had a very poor attitude and was very unhelpful. We had booked 3 for scuba and 1 for snorkelling. It was very windy so we weren't sure about the snorkelling. Brandon was about as unhelpful as you can be. 'Up to you' and 'it's not a snorkelling boat' was the best we could get. On the other hand, the crew on the boat and Gil our dive lead were great. Viz was excellent at Molokini.
In contrast though, one of the other dive masters who better knew the experience of his group, let me join for a last dive, where he let people venture around him, so long as they kept an eye towards him. He was also much more amicable on the boat and cared to have discussions with the guests. The snacks and lunch served on the boat was also greatly appreciated.
Excited to book my 79th & 80th dive heading to Molekini Crater and Turtle Town. Weather conditions were not great and did not allow a reschedule. Weather conditions are outside of their control, but still disappointed.
Great full service shop, hards part of the day we putting on the wetsuit! Remember to bring canned beer for the ride back to the dock.
The dives from this shop are not exactly what one would have hoped. I don't think it is exactly of any fault of the shop though - just not a great season in November. Both in the Molokini Crater and on the Backwall. People advertise that the backwall has a ton of larger life, but we saw nothing. And the dive masters state that the top and bottom "corners" have the highest chance for that.
